Detroit Red Wings rookie winger Anthony Mantha was a former first round pick in 2013, so he was destined (or at least expected) to score a ton of goals someday.
Red Wings rookie’s grandpa cries tears of pride after he scores his first NHL goal
What a great moment.

But that doesn’t make his first NHL goal any less sweet for his loved ones.
Mantha made his NHL debut on March 15, but it took awhile for him to crack the scoresheet for the first time. The Red Wings played the Montreal Canadiens at home on Thursday, and his grandparents were in attendance. Considering he grew up minutes from Montreal, it was a fitting time to knot his his first goal.

But the best part? His grandpa’s reaction, which will make you melt in tears, too.
