Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri may not have been entirely truthful about his diving history with reporters this week.
Nazem Kadri claims the NHL never fined him for diving, but his $5,000 in fines say otherwise
Not the whole truth, it seems.

On Monday, the 25-year-old center spoke about the perception that he dives to draw penalties and staunchly insisted his record was clean:
Kadri on Monday: "I’ve never once been fined even for embellishing or diving & I’ve been around a little while now."

But on Friday, the NHL pulled back the curtains on that claim, revealing they’ve caught and/or fined Kadri not once, but THREE TIMES this season alone, for total of $5,000. Under Rule 64, the player is given a warning for the first incident and a $2,000 fine after the second. The fine increases exponentially by $1,000 for every subsequent diving incident.
All three of Kadri’s illegal dives have come in the last two months. The first was against New Jersey on Feb. 4:
And the most recent two occurred at Ottawa on March 12 and at home against Calgary on March 21:
If Kadri gets disciplined for diving again, Maple Leafs coach Mike Babcock will begin to be fined as well.
