Up until the second period of Game 2 against the Washington Capitals, Steve Mason was enjoying a tremendous Stanley Cup playoffs run.
Steve Mason gives up awful goal from about 200 feet away
How does this happen?

He was the standout in Game 1, had kept the Capitals to just one goal through one period in Game 2, and had just made an excellent save that almost injured him.
And then he gave up a goal from 200 feet away.

That’s not an exaggeration. I looked it up. The Capitals dumped the puck in from deep in their own zone, and Mason just flubbed it.

One of the playoffs’ best goalies so far gives up the playoffs’ worst goal. That’s hockey.
