One of the worst games in recent New York Rangers memory finished with a 5-0 loss in Game 4 against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday.

The series heads back to Pittsburgh on Saturday with the Penguins up 3-1, one win away from eliminating the Rangers.

Henrik Lundqvist was chased from the net in the second period after allowing four goals on 18 shots. Pittsburgh thoroughly outplayed the Rangers, scoring on 60 percent of their power plays, doubling them in shot totals through two periods and remaining perfect on the penalty kill.

The Rangers never really recovered from a rocky first period. Eric Fehr opened the scoring just a minute into the game by beating Rangers defenders to a rebound at the front of the net. Patric Hornqvist extended the Penguins' lead with a deflection on the power play, his fourth goal of the series. And rookie Conor Sheary finished off the trio of goals by blocking a shot and taking it the other way for a 3-0 Penguins lead.

Any hope Lundqvist would turn the game around evaporated when Evgeni Malkin scored on another power play four minutes into the second period. At that point, Antti Raanta came in and Lundqvist was benched for the rest of the game. New York didn't fare any better with him in the net, only managing six shots on net in the second period and two through half of the third.

Malkin’s second goal and fourth point of the night in the third period ensured the Penguins would finish with a 5-0 win in Game 4. New York’s fans closed out the game with boos.
