NHL playoffs schedule 2016: Flyers, Wild and Panthers try to force a Game 7

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

It’s safe to say that three of the teams playing on Sunday would desperately like to avoid a Game 7.

The Philadelphia Flyers get the first crack at forcing one, hosting the league-best Washington Capitals for Game 6 of their first round playoff series. The Flyers are fresh off one of the strangest wins in playoff history: they played terribly but won the game. Whether they can repeat that kind of history will be something to watch on Sunday.

Meanwhile, you couldn't blame the Dallas Stars if doubts were starting to creep in. After a disappointing overtime loss in Game 5, the Stars head to Minnesota to take on the Wild in Game 6. Dallas has outplayed the Wild in stretches but has struggled to close out wins.

And the New York Islanders will seek to break a hex on Sunday, hosting the Florida Panthers in Game 6 of a highly-entertaining first round matchup. The Panthers are hoping to survive and win their first playoff series ever. But if the Islanders win on Sunday evening it'll be their first playoff series victory in 23 years.
