The Sharks had to endure a late rally by the Predators, but they held on with two goals in the third period to best Nashville 3-2 in Game 2.

The series now swings back to Nashville with a 2-0 Sharks lead.

It was a goaltender's duel for the first 38 minutes of Game 2. Pekka Rinne and Martin Jones went save for save, with Jones doing a bit more work as the Predators dominated the shot count 26-17 through periods one and two.

The game finally changed on a too-many-men penalty against the Predators just moments after the Sharks themselves committed one. A point shot from Joe Pavelski rebounded right to Logan Couture in front of the net. With Rinne looking behind him on the original shot, Couture got the easy stick-side tap in tally to open the scoring 1-0 with 1:24 to go in the second.

Mattias Ekholm finally broke through Jones with about seven minutes to play in the third. Ekholm was left alone at the top of the slot and his shot went top shelf above Jones' glove to tie the game 1-1

Pavelski got the game winner for San Jose with 2:40 to play. A lucky bounce off Rinne’s save fell right on the stick of the captain, who pushed the puck in past a diving Nashville defender and into an empty net for the 2-1 score.

Joe Thornton got the 3-1 empty netter to finish the game. The Predators added one late that made it 3-2, but Nashville ran out of time as Game 2 went to the Sharks.
