What was billed as a series between two of the league's biggest stars has started to dissolve into a series of high, illegal hits. Of course, putting two division rivals together will cause a level of intensity, but the Penguins and Capitals have now both crossed the line between good hockey play and dangerous blows.
Kris Letang continues streak of late, high hits in Penguins-Capitals series
One game after Brooks Orpik’s high hit, a Penguins defenseman might be facing a suspension.
Capitals defenseman Brooks Orpik was just suspended three games for his high shot on Olli Maatta, and now Penguins defenseman Kris Letang might be getting a look from the Department of Player Safety for this hit.
Letang looks to get Marcus Johansson high with a shoulder to the head. Not only is Johansson in a vulnerable position, the hit comes late after the puck was released on a pass across the ice when Letang got him up high.

The Penguins defenseman served two minutes for interference, but Johansson has yet to come back after the hit in the first period.
Update: Johansson was out to start the second period for the Capitals after the hit.
