Just one season after winning the Jack Adams award for being the NHL's best coach, Bob Hartley has been fired by the Calgary Flames.

Hartley spent four seasons with the Flames and since taking over in 2012, Calgary had gone 134-130-25 during his tenure. Last season, Hartley led the Flames to a 45-30-7 season, good enough for third place in the Pacific Division. Calgary eventually bowed out to the Ducks in the second round, giving the Flames their best playoff appearance since 2004 when they lost in the Stanley Cup final.

With Hartley gone, three of the five past Jack Adams winners have been fired from their clubs. The firing also marks Canada's second replacement of a head coach this season after the Ottawa Senators let Dave Cameron go last month.

The NHL head coaching market is dominated by one Bruce Boudreau, who was fired last week after the Ducks lost out in the first round to the Predators. Calgary will be just one of many teams in the NHL looking to acquire the services of the head coach.
