Bruce Boudreau was unemployed for a week.

Seven days after getting fired by the Anaheim Ducks, the Minnesota Wild have hired the veteran Boudreau to coach their team next season.

Since reaching the open market, a few NHL teams have engaged in a sort of bidding war for Boudreau's services. The Calgary Flames fired coach Bob Hartley seemingly to make a run at Boudreau, The Senators met with Boudreau on Friday, but they apparently couldn't match Minnesota's offer.

Minnesota is filling a position vacated when they fired coach Mike Yeo midway through the season. After huge splashes for free agents Zach Parise and Ryan Suter in 2012, the Wild made the playoffs and were eliminated in the first round for four straight years.

Boudreau comes with a long history of regular season success and playoff disappointments. He holds a 409-192-80 record and eight division titles between stints in Washington and Anaheim, but holds a 41-40 record in the postseason. His Ducks were bounced in the first round of the playoffs this season after winning their fourth straight division title.
