We may have just witnessed the greatest 3-on-3 overtime in hockey history. With Team North America fighting for their World Cup lives against Sweden in overtime, an incredible sequence of events culminated in probably the filthiest goal in this tournament off the hands of Nathan MacKinnon.
Unbelievable 3-on-3 OT sequence has Team North America living another day in the World Cup

First, goaltender John Gibson made a huge save on a Daniel Sedin breakaway that would have ended North America’s chances right then and there.

Then on the other end of the ice, North America’s failed cycling attempt turned into a golden opportunity after Johnny Gaudreau managed to keep the puck alive along the boards. The no-look pass to MacKinnon resulted in at least 20 moves on Henrik Lundqvist before he potted the puck stick side for the overtime winner.
