Andrew Shaw last played an NHL game on Dec. 12, spending the last few weeks dealing with a concussion. The Canadiens’ forward might not want to get comfortable, however, as this hit on Jesper Fast might be looked at by the Department of Player Safety.
Andrew Shaw ejected for interference in first game back from a concussion
The Canadiens’ forward got an elbow up high on Jesper Fast.

Shaw got the elbow up on an unsuspecting Fast, sending the Rangers’ forward flying backwards. Fast’s head impacted with the ice, leaving the forward in some serious pain.
Here’s a better angle of the hit with Fast’s head hitting the ice.
The play resulted in a five-minute major interference penalty on Shaw, and a game misconduct penalty was tacked on as well. Shaw’s hit wasn’t a headshot, but an unnecessary one with the puck no where in the vicinity of Fast.
Shaw was ejected for the hit, but Fast has continued to play for the Rangers, despite the jarring end to a reckless play.
