Now, it’s Athanasiou pulling the coast-to-coast moves through the Penguins’ defense on a goal that gave the Red Wings a 4-3 lead to start the third period.
The goal has shades of Detroit scoring machine Pavel Datsyuk, as Athanasiou split the Penguins’ defense on one incredible play. The Red Wings’ forward got pretty lucky too, as the puck deflected off of both Penguins defending on the play before Athanasiou roofed it on Marc-Andre Fleury.
