We laughed (and you laughed) because it was absurd. How does one team give up three goals on two shots in the first five minutes of the game? What an anomaly, right?
Wrong. That was on Saturday. On Monday, the Dallas Stars visited the Buffalo Sabres. And this time they gave up a goal just 19 seconds into the game!
Dallas lost that game, 4-1. They went back to Antti Niemi on Tuesday in New York. And, of course ...
First shot. First goal. This time only 27 seconds in.
That’s three straight games that Dallas has given up the first goal on the first shot of the game. Why even dress a goalie?
