It really wouldn’t be a major NHL event without a handful of endearing hiccups along the way. It’s what the NHL does, and we love them for it. We truly do.

The 2017 Winter Classic in St. Louis had a handful of them before the game even began, and we went on from there. These were hilarious and unbearable and we’re so glad they happened. Check back all game as they keep rolling in.

The temperature (47 degrees) isn’t perfect, but it’s cold enough to make for a good Classic. The problem is the rain. It almost delayed the event, and it was still misting as the game started. There’s a whole bunch of ways the weather can make this event weird.

They forgot the puck for the ceremonial face-off
This was just ... painful. Bobby Hull, Brett Hull, Jonathan Toews and Alex Pietrangelo were left standing awkwardly while they waited for the ONE THING they were there for.
Fog
It’s already foggy in St. Louis. See: the weather thing mentioned above. It’s also raining.
