We make fun of the NHL’s insistence on saturating the Winter Classic (the Stadium Series, the fact the Blackhawks are in nearly every one of them, etc.) but this past weekend is proof the NHL’s outdoor games are still capable of magic. So, without further ado, here are some of the best photos from both the Centennial Classic and the Winter Classic.

- Bob Costas singing “Hot in Here” is excruciating and you’re welcome.
- The Winter Classic had a lot of endearing mistakes before the game even began.
- Roberto Luongo upstaged the whole event from his couch.
- The Coyotes picked up Alexander Burmistrov off waivers.
- The Blackhawks trotted out Bobby Hull again yesterday to represent their franchise. Since Bobby Hull is a known domestic abuser with highly questionable opinions about Nazis and ... well, you can see why fans were not happy. Blackhawks fans in particular.
WORLD JUNIORS FUN
The semifinals are set! And the (arguably) best four countries in the tournament are through this year. Sorry, Finland.
- Russia put an end to Denmark’s impressive run. (Farewell, my countrymen. We shall rise again.)
- Very quietly, Sweden has stayed undefeated.
- Team USA is through, but they didn’t look great against Switzerland.
- And, of course, Canada is through after eliminating the Czech Republic.
- So your semifinal games are Sweden-Canada and USA-Russia on Jan. 4.
