Braden Holtby channels NHL goaltenders of old on a venture out of his net
A netminder’s decision to leave the crease actually didn’t end badly!


Actually, this stick-handling dandy came from Braden Holtby of all goaltenders as Washington’s netminder came out of his net to help the Capitals during a power play.
You don’t often see goaltenders venture that far outside of their nets, and when they do if often ends in disaster. Instead, Holtby put on a few subtle moves to evade the forechecking of the Montreal Canadiens before safely moving the puck into the neutral zone.
Not as impressive as Patrick Roy’s excursion and deke around Wayne Gretzky in the times of NHL past, but pretty cool nonetheless!
