Jaromir Jagr has played just five games in a Calgary Flames uniform this season, and he’ll have to wait a little while longer to play his next. On Monday, the Flames announced that Jagr would be headed to injured reserve after exiting Saturday’s game with a “lower body injury.”
Calgary Flames lose Jaromir Jagr to injured reserve following ‘lower-body injury’
Jagr left Saturday’s game against Minnesota late in the first period and did not return.

Jagr has two points in five games so far for the Flames after signing in Calgary at the beginning of October.
This will be the first time since the 2012-13 season that Jagr has missed an extended period of games. Since 2013, Jagr has missed only eight games due to injury, a statistic that is quite a testament to his overall health at age 45.
It’s hard to tell exactly what went wrong for Jagr on the shift before he took himself out of the game vs. the Minnesota Wild on Saturday. Jagr got tangled up with a few Wild players in front of Minnesota’s net, but he didn’t look any worse for wear skating off. The forward left the game late in the first period and did not return.
Jagr will be replaced by 23-year-old Mark Jankowski, who the Flames called up from the Stockton Heat in the AHL on Monday. Jankowski has just one NHL game to his name so far in his hockey career, but he has eight points, including five goals, in six games so far this season in the AHL.
Currently, there is no timetable on Jagr’s return to the NHL after this lower body injury.
