After a bizarre incident on Tuesday evening, Ducks forward Antoine Vermette has officially been suspended by the NHL for 10 games.
Antoine Vermette officially suspended 10 games for physical abuse of an official
The Ducks forward was given a game misconduct after slashing a referee with his stick.

Complying with the league rulebook, Vermette was automatically suspended for taking a chop at the back of a referee’s legs during the Ducks game against the Wild in Minnesota.
On Thursday, the NHL officially enacted the suspension after a call with the NHLPA confirmed the abuse of officials game misconduct on Vermette.
Due to the 10-game suspension, Vermette will forfeit $97,222.22 of his salary.
Vermette and the NHLPA will appeal the decision, much like Dennis Wideman was able to do to knock his 20-game suspension down to 10.
Should Vermette’s appeal be denied, the next time he can be active for the Ducks is on March 12 for a game against the Capitals.
