Coyotes player leaves on stretcher after massive hit by Bruins player

Burmistrov did give a thumbs-up on his way out.

Boston was the site of a scary scene in the NHL on Tuesday night, as Arizona Coyotes forward Alexander Burmistrov left the game on a stretcher following a big open-ice hit by Colin Miller.

The Coyotes were attempting a zone exit when Bruins defenseman Colin Miller read the pass as it headed toward Burmistrov’s stick. Before he could retrieve it, Miller laid him out with a massive check that left Burmistrov dazed on the ice.

Miller was intitially walked to the penalty box, but then assessed a five-minute major and a game misconduct. It’s likely he’ll hear from the NHL Department of Player Safety soon.

Mainly because his shoulder did make contact with Burmistrov.

Coyotes defenseman Jake Chychrun was assessed a roughing minor for that takedown on Miller.

Burmistrov was tended to by a host of trainers from both teams before being wheeled off on a stretcher. He gave a thumbs-up to the crowd on his way out, which is a great sign. UPDATE: He says he’s fine!

Burmistrov joined the Coyotes in a waiver claim from the Winnipeg Jets earlier this season.
