In their run up to the playoffs, the last thing the Bruins need is an injury to one of their top forwards. David Backes left Boston’s game against the Calgary Flames midway through the first period after toe-picking and landing face-first into the boards.

A fluky play may leave Boston without one of its top line forwards.

There are some Calgary sticks around Backes before he tumbles, but the Bruins forward had already lost control by that point.
The 32-year-old winger was down on the ice for a few moments before being escorted off by teammates. Backes was unable to put weight on his left leg.
In 61 games played with his new club, Backes has 33 points for the Bruins.
