Patrice Bergeron’s no stranger to concussions, so when the Bruins’ forward was taken hard into the boards by Nikita Soshnikov there was obvious cause for concern.
Nikita Soshnikov boards Patrice Bergeron on dangerous hit into the glass
A likely rookie mistake from the young Maple Leafs forward.

Also anger, lots of anger from the Bruins side.
Soshnikov got Bergeron square in the numbers, forcing the head of the Bruins’ forward right into the glass. The Maple Leafs’ winger didn’t put much force into the hit, but it’s a dangerous play when Bergeron was slowing up around the boards.
The subsequent anger from Bergeron resulted in matching minors for the pair, and Toronto actually scored on the resulting four-on-four to tie the game at 1-1.
It’s unclear whether Soshnikov, a 23-year-old second-year forward, will get a hearing from the Department of Player Safety, but it has most definitely sparked a flame under this already heated Atlantic Division rivalry game.
