Matthew Tkachuk suspended 2 games for elbowing Drew Doughty in the face

The Flames rookie will miss games against the Capitals and Predators thanks to this hit.

The Flames will be without 46-point-scorer Matthew Tkachuk for their next two games, as the rookie has been suspended for elbowing.

On Sunday, Tkachuk got his left arm up on Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty, sending him to the locker room.

You can see the video from the NHL’s Department of Player Safety below:

Given Tkachuk’s clean slate, along with the “reckless” and “forceful” nature of the hit has him sitting for two games. Which seems fair, since Tkachuk wasn’t penalized for the hit to begin with.

The rookie has had a real solid year for the Flames, and Calgary will certainly miss their fifth-best scorer against the Capitals and Predators.
