Remember Eric Semborski? The goaltender from Temple who signed with the Blackhawks for a day when Corey Crawford had an appendectomy while in Philadelphia?
The Flyers weren’t allowed to use their local emergency goalie because it wasn’t an ‘emergency’
A cool moment for a former college goaltender, wasted.

Well, he made an appearance again on Saturday, but this time for his local team, the Flyers! The circumstances were a bit more muted with Michal Neuvirth’s sudden collapse in the first period, but Semborski suited up to back up Anthony Stolarz.
The Flyers tried to get him into the last 25 seconds of their 3-0 win over the Devils. Great story, right? Wrong. The officials wouldn’t let him play because Stolarz wasn’t injured!
Thanks, refs, for ruining a wonderful moment for the local goaltender boy. Especially a local boy who is a fan of the Flyers! Lighten up!
