It’s odd to call a Game 4 for the Washington Capitals the most important game of the year already, but it sure feels like it.

Washington finishes a two-game swing in Toronto on Wednesday, licking their wounds from a disappointing overtime loss in Game 3. The Maple Leafs claimed the series lead in the third-straight overtime game of the series. One of these two has to win in regulation at some point, right?
The Capitals are expected to increase Alex Ovechkin’s ice time for Game 4, an idea that seems so obvious you wonder why they haven’t done it since the dawn of time. Karl Alzner will miss Game 4 for Washington, however, leaving them short-handed on the blueline. Nate Schmidt is expected to draw in his stead.
