If it’s any comfort to Capitals fans, Game 4 could be the start of a whole new series depending on the outcome. On Monday, Washington was shocked by Toronto in a Game 3 overtime loss, as the Maple Leafs took a 2-1 lead in the series.
Capitals vs. Maple Leafs: Game 4 is a turning point for Washington
Which Capitals team will we see on Wednesday?

Now the Capitals will have to play from behind in an unfriendly barn in Game 4. The Maple Leafs have a real chance to put the fear of God into the Capitals and their fans with a win on Wednesday.
What we learned in Game 3
The kids can hang. Toronto seemingly wasn’t discouraged when the Capitals had a pair of two-goal leads, as the Leafs eventually tied the game to take it to overtime. Auston Matthews and his fellow young kids have the legs, and the enthusiasm, to keep pace with the veteran Capitals. After many believed the Caps would roll all over the Maple Leafs, their pushback is quite the surprise.
Key player in Game 4
Alex Ovechkin. The captain has two points in the series but was only utilized for 15 minutes of ice time in Game 3. Capitals head coach Barry Trotz put that blame on himself for bad player management, so keep your eyes on Ovechkin in Game 4.
What will decide Wednesday night’s game?
The Capitals defense. Washington uncharacteristically had breakdowns in the defensive zone in Game 3, ultimately leading to Toronto’s comeback. The Maple Leafs thrived in this series when they set up in the offensive zone, and should the Capitals want to make it back home with a series split, they’ll need to be tighter on defense.
Who takes home Game 4?
The Capitals. This series seems destined for a long run. Overtime is likely.
