The New York Rangers return to the friendly confines of Madison Square Garden on Saturday with a chance to eliminate the Montreal Canadiens from the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Mika Zibanejad’s overtime goal gave them that luxury, putting the Rangers up 3-2 in the first round series. It seems like a long time ago that the Blueshirts were booed out of the building after a Game 3 loss. Ever since Alain Vigneault replaced grinder Tanner Glass with rookie playmaker Pavel Buchnevich, the Rangers have looked more potent. Huh. Who knew.
Meanwhile, the Canadiens are drying up offensively with little payoff from captain Max Pacioretty or Shea Weber. How much of that is due to brilliant net-minding from Henrik Lundqvist is up for debate.
