There’s nothing better in hockey than the NHL playoffs, and there’s nothing better in the NHL playoffs than a Game 7. So Wednesday is going to especially sweet, as the league treats us to a pair of series-clinching matchups that’ll decide two spots in the conference finals.

The action opens with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals battling to determine who will face the Ottawa Senators in the East. The Capitals won back-to-back games to force Game 7 at the Verizon Center, and look to have momentum on their side for the deciding game.

After Alex Ovechkin dukes it out with Sidney Crosby and company one last time, Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers will look for their first conference finals appearance together. Edmonton and Anaheim are tied, 3-3, in their series after the Oilers dominated Game 6.

The winner of that series will face the Nashville Predators, who eliminated the Chicago Blackhawks and St. Louis Blues to make their first conference finals appearance in franchise history.
