The NHL offsides challenge already took away a goal in the Stanley Cup Final
We must stop this.
For a brief moment. P.K. Subban had scored the opening goal for the Nashville Predators in Game 1, just 10 minutes into the first period. What a shot!
But, alas. The Penguins immediately challenged that the play was offsides. The player in question? Predators winger Filip Forsberg, who started the zone entry along the boards. And the Penguins’ bench had a clear line of sight on it.
The officials reviewed it and deemed the goal disallowed due to offsides. It seems that Forsberg’s right skate was already off the ice before the puck had crossed the blue line completely, which means it was still offsides.
You can have one skate behind the blue line as the puck crosses, but as soon as one skate is in the zone and one skate is in the air, the puck had better be across the line.
