The Pittsburgh Penguins were winning Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final, 3-0, after the first period.
The Penguins didn’t record a shot on goal for 37 minutes and won Game 1 anyway
This is the most bizarre game of hockey you’ll see.

That was also the last time the Penguins got a shot on goal for nearly two periods. Seriously. The Penguins were beating the Nashville Predators, 3-0, after 20 minutes, but were then shut down on offense for almost 40 minutes.
The Predators didn’t allow the Penguins to get a shot on goal through the second period. That’s unusual, but not devastating since they were winning.
Since they had taken their last shot — Nick Bonino’s 3-0 goal that went off Mattias Ekholm with 17 seconds to go — the Predators scored three goals.
The next time the Penguins took a shot? Just a mere 37 minutes later. And guess what? They scored. And they won the game, 5-3, after all was said and done.
Honestly, you’re looking in the wrong place if you want analysis on this. Hockey is the most random sport on earth. I am sure of this now after the game of hockey I just witnessed.
