The NHL Awards show is usually a bit of an afterthought, but not this year. We’re also getting the Vegas Golden Knights’ expansion draft picks on Wednesday night, which makes this a particularly special occasion for the hockey world.
NHL Awards Show 2017: Start time, TV channel for Wednesday night

Awards like the Hart Trophy will be announced as always, but all eyes will be on what the Golden Knights do in Vegas. There should be some surprises, and it’ll be thrilling to discover the roster live on television.
Sidney Crosby won another Conn Smythe Trophy after leading the Penguins to a Stanley Cup, but will the voters see him as the league’s MVP over Connor McDavid? The Vezina race for the league’s best goaltender is probably in Sergei Bobrovsky’s hands, but Braden Holtby and Carey Price are always contenders.
And don’t forget the Calder, where Auston Matthews and Patrik Laine are sure to get Maple Leafs and Jets fans talking again.
The real intrigue is the expansion draft, though. Expect it to be a fun night for hockey fans all over.
Actor and noted Penguins fan Joe Manganiello will host the NHL Awards starting at 8 p.m. ET.
