A scary scene unfolded in Montreal on Saturday night when Canadiens forward Phillip Danault took a slap shot to the head from the stick of Boston Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara. Danault was eventually stretchered off after the tense scene.

The Montreal Canadiens forward has been taken to a hospital after Zdeno Chara’s shot hit him high.


The injury occurred late in the second period of the Bruins and Canadiens game, as a Chara blast from the point collided with Danault in the middle of Montreal’s zone.
Danault collapsed immediately after taking the puck up high and he stayed down clutching his head. Reportedly, the shot off of Chara’s stick was going at 123 kilometers per hour, which is close to 80 miles per hour.
The stretcher came out for Danault after the forward tried to get up and failed.
The period was ended between the Canadiens and Bruins with 1:37 to play after the scary scene involving Danault.
After the incident, Danault was taken to a hospital and is reportedly “awake and moving” according to Sportsnet reporter Kyle Bukauskas.
