It’s been quite a season so far for Alex Ovechkin. The Washington Capitals’ star has found his game once again this season and has so far rebounded from a down year by leading the NHL with 26 goals in 41 games.
Alex Ovechkin stuns Hurricanes in overtime for 100th career game-winning goal
The Great Eight adds another milestone to his impressive resume.

On Tuesday, Ovechkin was at it again for the Capitals, as he bullied the Carolina Hurricanes all evening. The forward already had a goal going into a tied 4-4 overtime match with their Metropolitan Division partners, but his game-winner is another bit of Ovechkin magic.
Ovechkin took the puck from his own zone before swerving around one Hurricanes player and then making another miss with a deke. For his final trick, he bested Carolina goaltender Cam Ward with a shot fake then a deceptive wrist shot that had the netminder looking like a fool.
The goal was not only a highlight reel goal, it was also Ovechkin’s 100th career game-winner, as he’s become the first Capitals player to reach that milestone in franchise history. Quite a milestone for a player that has 584 total goals in his NHL career as he’s closing in on 1,000 games played.
