The last four Belmont Stakes winners paid $51.50, $28.00, $25.80, and $79.00 as huge longshots.
Belmont Stakes Betting: My Adonis The Best Longshot Odds

Does My Adonis, a late entry, have the form to upset the field and fill the pockets of Belmont Stakes bettors today?
Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner I’ll Have Another is now officially out of Saturday’s race, his Triple Crown bid ended by tendonitis. [ Free Belmont Stakes contests with cash prizes ]
The colt had been the 4/5 morning line betting choice and his defection from the race has made Kentucky Derby third-place finisher Dullahan the Belmont Stakes odds favorite at 9/5. But we have seen the betting favorite lose in each of the last four runnings of the Belmont Stakes, and we have seen some handsome payoffs.
The $79.00 payoff went to backers of Da’ Tara, who pulled off the huge upset while Big Brown saw his Triple Crown bid dashed, with jockey Kent Desormeaux easing the Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner in the stretch at Belmont Park.
If we look past the logical contenders, which include I’ll Have Another, Union Rags, Dullahan, and Paynter, which of the remaining runners in the field are most likely to light up the toteboard?
The last to join the party might be worth tossing a few bucks on at your favorite online racebook.
Owners George and Lori Hall did not commit My Adonis to the Belmont Stakes until Tuesday, and the Kelly Breen trainee might be worth a look at what should be a generous price.
"The colt is 20-1 on the morning line and, if the connections sound familiar, all we have to do is go back to last year’s Belmont Stakes winner," said Michael Dempsey, whose racing selections have dominated horse racing fpor decades.
Breen saddled Ruler On Ice for the owners, the gelding holding off Stay Thirsty in the stretch to win by 1 ¾ lengths and return $51.50.
The gelding came into the race last year off a runner-up finish in the Federico Tesio at Pimlico.
My Adonis was in the mix early this year in a couple of Derby prep races, checking in third in the Holy Bull (G3) at Gulfstream Park and second in the Gotham (G3) at Aqueduct.
His seventh-place finish in the Wood Memorial (G1) knocked him off the Derby Trail, and he bounced back with a decent effort in a third place finish in the Canonero II at Pimlico, which replaced the Tesio.
The colt gets New York’s leading rider Ramon Dominguez, who will be riding the colt for the first time.
The connections are using the same route with this colt that they used last year, and the price on this guy figures to be similar.
While he is going to need a career top to beat the main contenders in here, at a price he certainly is worth a look to land in the exotics.
