The colt had been the 4/5 morning line betting choice and his defection from the race has made Kentucky Derby third-place finisher Dullahan the Belmont Stakes odds favorite at 9/5. But we have seen the betting favorite lose in each of the last four runnings of the Belmont Stakes, and we have seen some handsome payoffs.

Owners George and Lori Hall did not commit My Adonis to the Belmont Stakes until Tuesday, and the Kelly Breen trainee might be worth a look at what should be a generous price.

Breen saddled Ruler On Ice for the owners, the gelding holding off Stay Thirsty in the stretch to win by 1 ¾ lengths and return $51.50.

The gelding came into the race last year off a runner-up finish in the Federico Tesio at Pimlico.

My Adonis was in the mix early this year in a couple of Derby prep races, checking in third in the Holy Bull (G3) at Gulfstream Park and second in the Gotham (G3) at Aqueduct.

His seventh-place finish in the Wood Memorial (G1) knocked him off the Derby Trail, and he bounced back with a decent effort in a third place finish in the Canonero II at Pimlico, which replaced the Tesio.

The colt gets New York’s leading rider Ramon Dominguez, who will be riding the colt for the first time.

The connections are using the same route with this colt that they used last year, and the price on this guy figures to be similar.

While he is going to need a career top to beat the main contenders in here, at a price he certainly is worth a look to land in the exotics.
