Seahawks vs.Cardinals: Betting odds, preview, trends & pick

Seattle is favored but Arizona owns a staggering against the spread trend. Check out the Thursday night odds preview.

Otto Greule Jr

The Seattle Seahawks are 10-1 SU and 8-3 ATS over their last 11 regular season games, but they face a negative trend Thursday night visiting the Arizona Cardinals.

The Cardinals are 7-1 SU & ATS in their past 8 games vs Seattle, a surprising trend that has some Seahawks bettors sweating the 6.5-point spread at most books monitored by OddsShark.com.

Despite the fact that Russell Wilson has regressed statistically in his sophomore season, the Seattle Seahawks continue to be one of the league’s elite teams thanks to an outstanding defense and running game.

The fact Seattle continues to cover big spreads (and they are 5-1 ATS in their past six road games) plays a role in NFL football betting lines remaining skewed in the Seahawks favor.

The Seahawks allow just 15.7 points per game and rush for 157.7 yards per game, controlling the clock when they have the ball and keeping opposing teams out of the end zone when they don’t. Seattle is 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS so far this season.

One year removed from having the league’s worst passing attack, the Arizona Cardinals have enjoyed some success in the passing game with Carson Palmer under center, averaging 236.7 passing yards per game. While the Cardinals offense is still below league average, it is at least good enough now to give the team a chance to win when its strong defense is playing well.

The Cardinals are 3-3 SU and 4-2 ATS so far this season, according to the Seattle Arizona matchup stats report.

Arizona has enjoyed success against Seattle in recent years with a 6-4 SU and ATS record against the Seahawks in their last 10 meetings, but the Seahawks are 4-2 SU and ATS over the last six meetings including a 58-0 blowout win last December. Seattle is just 1-6 SU and ATS in its last seven road games against the Cardinals.

Arizona is 11-4 SU in its last 15 games at home, including a 2-0 SU home record so far in 2013. The Cardinals are also 7-2 SU and ATS in their last nine games as a home underdog.

While an outright win over Seattle would be tough to pull off, Arizona has played well enough at home and on defense this year to suggest that it can keep this game close, especially with Seattle’s offense still trying to find its groove.
