UCLA vs. Stanford betting odds, trends, and pick: Upset coming?

Stanford is favored to rebound from a bad loss, but the computer likes UCLA to pull the upset. This article was provided to SB Nation by OddsShark.com.

The No. 13 Stanford Cardinal are 5-0 straight up and 4-1 against the spread in their last five games against the No. 9 UCLA Bruins, but the computer is predicting both streaks will end Saturday. The Cardinal were a 6-point favorite at home midweek at most sportsbook monitored by OddsShark.com.

Stanford had a 13-game winning streak snapped last week when the Utah Utes upset the Cardinal in Utah as a 7.5-point underdog. With the loss, Stanford fell to 5-1 SU on the season with just a 2-4 ATS record. Stanford's defense has taken a step backwards this year, allowing an uncharacteristic 22.2 points per game.

The offense had scored at least 31 points in each of Stanford’s first five games, but stalled in the 27-21 loss to Utah, according to the matchup report details.

The UCLA Bruins have been perfect from a betting perspective this season, starting off the year on a 5-0 SU and ATS run. The wins haven't all been against cupcake teams either as the Bruins have already picked up solid road wins over Nebraska and Utah. Brett Hundley has led the offense to 45.8 points and 547 total yards per game.

These two teams met on back-to-back weeks last season, finishing the regular season with a game against each other and than playing in the Pac-12 championship. Stanford beat UCLA comfortably 35-17 in the first game, but the second game was much closer with Stanford edging out a 27-24 win.

The total has gone OVER in four of UCLA’s last six games on the road and in four of Stanford’s last six games at home. Saturday’s total is currently set at 54. Stanford has had UCLA’s number over the last four years, but this is easily the best team that UCLA has had over that stretch and is arguably Stanford’s worst.

The Cardinal could bounce back with a big win at home, but the Bruins are good enough to keep it close or potentially win it outright.

PICK: UCLA +6.0 | Computer Prediction: 34-21 UCLA (courtesy of OddsShark.com college football picks engine)
