South Carolina vs. Missouri betting odds, trends and pick: Tigers to reach 8-0

Missouri pushed into the AP Top 5 and is favored slightly against a motivated South Carolina team. See the SEC odds, matchup details and betting trends on this one. This story was provided to SB Nation by OddsShark.

Jeff Blake-US PRESSWIRE

With last week's win over the Florida Gators, the Missouri Tigers improved to 7-0 straight up and against the spread and have jumped up to No. 5 in the BCS. The Tigers get another tough test this week, hosting the South Carolina Gamecocks as a 2.5-point home favorite.

After they lost quarterback James Franklin in their upset win over the Georgia Bulldogs, many believed that the Tigers would lose against the Gators. Instead, freshman Maty Mauk picked up right where Franklin left off, passing for 336 yards and a touchdown while leading the team to a 36-17 win over Florida. To score 36 points on Florida's defense is impressive; to do so with your backup quarterback says a lot about how good this Missouri team really is.

The South Carolina Gamecocks lost their second game of the season last week against the Tennessee Volunteers, dropping to 5-2 SU and 2-5 ATS on the year, according to the college football database at Odds Shark.

To keep their hopes of an SEC title alive, the Gamecocks need a win this week against Missouri. And they’ll have to get it without their starting quarterback as Conner Shaw has been listed as doubtful with a knee injury that he suffered in the game against Missouri.

When these two teams met last season, South Carolina won 31-10. That game was in South Carolina; this week’s game will be in Missouri, where the Tigers are 5-1 SU and ATS in their last six games including a 4-0 SU and ATS record this season.

Ole Miss and Texas A&M still loom at the end of the season, but a win this week would put Missouri one step closer to an improbable SEC East title.

PICK: Missouri -2.5 | Computer Prediction: 39-27 Mizzou
