Washington vs. Stanford betting odds, trends, and pick: Cardinal to dominate

Stanford gives 7 points to Washington in Pac 12 betting action Sunday. Can they avenge last year’s upset loss to the Huskies?

Thearon W. Henderson

The Stanford Cardinal are 27-2 straight up and 17-11 against the spread in their last 29 games at home, and they'll try to notch another home win this Saturday hosting the Washington Huskies. Stanford was a 7.5-point home favorite midweek, set to avenge last year's upset at the hands of the Huskies. The total was hovering around 52.5 at most sportsbooks tracked by OddsShark.com.

Stanford has emerged as one of the nation’s premiere programs in recent years, and 2013 looks to be no exception, as the Cardinal are off to a 4-0 SU and 2-2 ATS start. Known more for their tight defense in years past, this year’s Stanford team is averaging 41.25 points per game, all while allowing just 19.5 points per game.

The Cardinal face a tough stretch of games in the coming weeks, with this home game against Washington, a trip to Utah, and then a return home for UCLA.

Washington started the season off with a surprising 38-6 blowout win over the Boise State Broncos and hasn’t looked back since. Averaging 39.75 points per game on offense with over 285 rushing yards and 285 passing yards per game, the Huskies have been a well-oiled machine; all while allowing just 10.75 points per game on defense. With a 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS record through their first four games, the Huskies look well on their way to breaking their stretch of three straight 7-6 seasons.

Stanford is 4-1 SU and ATS in its last five games against the Washington Huskies, but the Huskies came away with a 17-13 upset win when the two teams met last season in Washington. Can the Huskies find another upset win, this time on the road?

We don’t think so. Washington is playing so well that it is certainly possible, but Stanford has been such a strong home team in recent years. And with the added boost of looking for revenge for last year’s loss, the Cardinal should be focused and energized to put together a winning effort at home this week.
