Georgia Tech vs. Miami betting odds, preview and pick: Computer likes Canes

Miami can run its ATS streak against Georgia Tech to five with a win Saturday. They are favored on the college football odds menu at Odds Shark.

Scott Cunningham

The Miami Hurricanes are 4-0 straight up and against the spread in their last four games against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and will try to add another win to that streak in Miami this Saturday. The Hurricanes were a 5.5-point home favorite midweek at most shops tracked by OddsShark.com.

Miami has enjoyed a sensational start to the 2013 season, kicking things off with a 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS record with three straight ATS covers in an upset win over Florida and back-to-back blowouts over Savannah State and South Florida.

Averaging 45.25 points per game on offense and allowing just 12.5 points per game on defense, Miami hasn’t shown any noticeable weaknesses to start the season; but this will be the toughest offense the Hurricanes have faced by far.

Georgia Tech got off to an impressive 3-0 SU and ATS start that included wins over Duke and UNC, but hit a rut last Thursday night in a 17-10 loss to Virginia Tech. The offense has been trending in the wrong direction, scoring 70 points in the season opener against Elon, 38 against Duke, 28 against UNC, and then just 10 against Virginia Tech.

The defense has looked pretty consistently strong though, and the Yellow Jackets are still averaging over 290 rushing yards per game.

The total has gone UNDER in three of the last four games between these two teams and in six of the last nine. The computer prediction pushes this game over the total, which was sitting at 55.5 Thursday at 5Dimes.eu.

While Miami is 4-0 SU and ATS in the last four games of this series, Georgia Tech was 4-0 SU and ATS in the prior four. Last year’s game was decided by just six points, with Miami eventually outshooting Georgia Tech by a score of 42-36. With the way these two teams look so far, this one feels like it will be another close game.

Georgia Tech’s offense ran into a tough Virginia Tech defense last week, but should be able to bounce back to at least keep this one close this week.

PICK: Georgia Tech +5.5 | Computer Prediction: 35-27 Miami (via OddsShark.com)
