Clippers, Nets favored on NBA betting odds menus

Those who bet on the NBA have been surprised by the strength of Portland in the early 2013-2014 season. They are underdogs in Brooklyn to open the week.

Steve Dykes-US PRESSWIRE

The Portland Trail Blazers went just 33-49 SU last season, finishing the year off on a 13-game losing streak.

But through the first 10 games of the 2012-13 season, Portland has the third best record in the NBA at 8-2 SU and 7-3 ATS.

Portland visits the Brooklyn Nets on Monday after beating the Toronto Raptors 118-110 in overtime on Sunday. Brooklyn has been a surprise in the other direction for those who bet on the NBA, starting off the season just 3-6 SU and 4-5 ATS after making a big trade to bring in more star power this offseason.

The Nets have won each of their last two games against the Trail Blazers and were favored by three points early Monday at most sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

After meeting in the postseason in each of the last two years there is plenty of bad blood between the Los Angeles Clippers and Memphis Grizzlies, who meet Monday night in Los Angeles.

After the Clippers won six of their previous seven games against Memphis, the Grizzlies have won each of the last four games in this series SU and ATS, which all came in the postseason last year. The Clippers are a 9-point favorite, according to one NBA odds site, to get their revenge on Monday.

The Miami Heat have shaken off a cold start and won three straight games to improve to 7-3 SU, but are still just 4-6 ATS. The Heat host the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night and then head on the road to Orlando to play the Magic on Wednesday night.

The Heat are 13-2 SU and 12-3 ATS in their last 15 games against Atlanta with a current streak of 7-0 SU and 6-1 ATS. Miami has also won five straight against Orlando with a 3-2 ATS record over that stretch.

The Boston Celtics have lost three straight, and that losing streak could continue this week on the road against the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night and the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night. San Antonio is 9-1 SU on the season with seven straight wins.

On Thursday night the Clippers head to Oklahoma City for another big showdown against the Thunder. The total has gone OVER in eight of the last nine games between these two Western Conference contenders.
