Preakness Stakes odds 2013: Orb still heavily favored for second leg of Triple Crown

Orb’s odds can’t get much better.

After a dominant showing in the Kentucky Derby, Orb is the odds-on favorite to win the second leg of horse racing’s Triple Crown, the Preakness Stakes, on Saturday.

Orb’s odds have improved to 1/1 as of Friday night and the horse has been at the top of the odds list the entire week, according to Bovoda Sportsbook. The rest of the list has undergone a bit of shuffling, however. Mylute’s odds have slowly improved since Thursday, currently sitting right behind Orb at 5/1 odds. Departing is close behind with 6/1 odds, and the top three horses have been locked into those spots all week.

At the bottom of the list, the only thing that has changed is that Titletown Five, the race’s biggest underdog, has become even more of a longshot to win Saturday’s event, as the horse’s odds have now gone down to 30/1. Meanwhile, Oxbow’s line has improved to 15/1.

The middle of the pack is anyone’s guess. Goldencents has 8/1 odds, Itsmyluckyday has a 10/1 chance to win the race, and Governor Charlie and Will Take Charge both have 12/1 odds.

The Preakness will take place at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, where rain is expected on Saturday. The track is also 1/16 of a mile shorter than the track at the Kentucky Derby.

The race will begin at 6:20 p.m. Eastern time on NBC. Here are the full odds for the nine-horse field as of Friday evening:

Orb - 1/1
Mylute - 5/1
Departing - 6/1
Goldencents - 8/1
Itsmyluckyday - 10/1
Governor Charlie - 12/1
Will Take Charge - 12/1
Oxbow - 15/1
Titletown Five - 30/1
