The New York Yankees have had a tough time paying out on the MLB betting lines against the Oakland Athletics over the past year, and with Oakland coming off a red-hot stretch the Bronx Bombers could be in for another difficult series starting on Tuesday.
Yankees expect MLB betting underdog status in Oakland, Anaheim
New York is stubbornly hanging tough in the AL East standings, but they will be underdogs this week during a West Coast swing. The MLB odds will favor Oakland and likely the Angels this week vs the Yankees.

The Yankees will continue their west-coast swing after an off-day on Tuesday night, when they begin a three-game set in Oakland against the Athletics.
New York and Oakland met three times at Yankee Stadium back at the start of May, with the A’s paying out for their supporters on the MLB odds in two of those games at the books.
That continued an MLB betting trend of Oakland dominance over New York, with the Athletics heading into this week’s series having picked up the victory in seven of their last 10 games against the Yankees since last July.
Totals bettors have seen a more balanced result in those matchups, with the OVER/UNDER going 4-6 in those games and a poor showing here may push the Yankees odds to win the 2013 World Series down even further.
Former Yankee Bartolo Colon is projected to be on the mound for Oakland in the series opener on Tuesday, and he’s coming off a four-game stretch in which he went 4-0 while allowing just three runs over 30 innings of work.
Overall the veteran righthander is 7-2 on the season with a 3.14 ERA, walking just six batters over his 77 1-3 innings pitched.
After tangling with Oakland the Yankees will continue their road trip in Anaheim, with a three-game set against the Angels getting underway on Friday night. New York and Los Angeles will be meeting for the first time this season, with the Yankees going 5-4 against the Angels in their nine matchups back in 2012. The OVER/UNDER went 5-4.
Meanwhile, Oakland will stay at home this weekend for three games against the Seattle Mariners. The Athletics are well ahead of the Mariners in the American League West division standings, but Seattle has managed to win four of their seven games against Oakland so far this season.
The OVER paid out in four of those seven games.
Seattle will warm up for their series against Oakland with three games early in the week against a Houston Astros team that boasts the worst record in the Junior Circuit. Houston, though, managed to go 4-2 against Seattle in the half-dozen meetings between the teams back in April, so they will be looking for a repeat of that early effort.
Astro bettors would pocket huge profits if that happens, even if lowly Houston ranks lowest in World Series matchup odds. (See the latest MLB odds here at SBNation.)
