Holding down the best record in baseball heading into the month of June, the St. Louis Cardinals will be putting that mark to the test in a big way this week as they try to pay off for their supporters on the MLB odds in series against two other top NL clubs.

St. Louis will start off its week on Monday night in the opener of a four-game home series against the Arizona Diamondbacks, who sit in first place in the National League West division standings.

The Cardinals have already run into trouble against the D-Backs once this season, dropping two of three games to them in Arizona back in April. Overall, though, the Cardinals boast a 7-3 record in their last 10 against the D-Backs.

Monday’s pitching matchup is set as Arizona’s Trevor Cahill vs. St. Louis’ Lance Lynn; Cahill is 3-5 with a 2.88 ERA on the season, while Lynn is 7-1 with a 2.91 ERA in 2013. The home team was sitting as -160 moneyline favorites Monday morning, according to most sportsbooks tracked by OddsShark.com.

The Cardinals then have a showdown with the Reds in Cincinnati scheduled for this weekend, with the Reds their closest competitor in the National League Central division standings.

The Cards and Reds have already played two series in St. Louis this season, with Cincinnati dropping four of those six contests on the MLB odds. Totals bettors saw the OVER/UNDER go 2-4 in those half-dozen matchups in April and May.

Cincinnati will warm up for its series against St. Louis with three games against the Colorado Rockies starting on Monday night, with the Reds expected to send Bronson Arroyo to the mound to face the Rockies’ Tyler Chatwood in the opener.

Arroyo is 5-5 with a 3.75 ERA on the season, while Chatwood has sparkled at 3-0 with a 2.12 ERA.

Colorado has picked up the loss in each of its past five games against the Reds, and in seven of their past 10 meetings dating back to 2011. The OVER/UNDER went 5-5.

The Atlanta Braves are the other NL division leader heading into this week, and they’ll host the Pittsburgh Pirates for three games starting Monday night before they begin a west-coast swing with four games at Dodger Stadium beginning on Thursday night.

The Pirates went 3-1 against the Braves when the two teams met in Pittsburgh at the end of April, and Atlanta overall is just 3-7 over its past 10 games against the Pirates since last season.

Pittsburgh is expected to send A.J. Burnett to the mound against Atlanta on Monday night; he’s pitched his team to a 2-8 record in his last 10 starts vs. the Braves, with the OVER/UNDER going 1-7-2 for totals bettors in those 10 outings.
