UCLA vs. Nebraska betting odds, preview, trends, pick

UCLA battles tragedy and the Nebraska Cornhuskers Saturday in college football betting odds. The Bruins are underdogs but the Odds Shark NCAA computer is picking them to win.

Stephen Dunn

Two teams that are expected to put up a lot of points clash Saturday in Lincoln, as the Nebraska Cornhuskers host the UCLA Bruins in a rematch of last year's game. The OVER is 7-1 in UCLA's last eight games and 6-1-1 in Nebraska's last eight games, setting the stage for some offensive fireworks when these two teams meet at high noon.

The Cornhuskers were a 4.5-point home favorite early in the week, and that spread is holding at most sportsbooks tracked by OddsShark.com. The total was climbing past 70 points, so both teams will have to bring their A-games on offense to hit it.

The Bruins looked great in their season debut against Nevada, crushing the Wolfpack 58-20 to easily cover the spread as 20.5-point favorites at home. While the defense is a concern for the Bruins this season, the offense looks better than ever with sophomore dual-threat quarterback Brett Hundley at the helm.

Like UCLA, Nebraska has an excellent dual-threat quarterback in Taylor Martinez. And defense is also a concern for the Cornhuskers, especially after giving up 34 points at home to Wyoming in a 37-34 nail-biter that should have been anything but with the Huskers favored by 31 points.

Nebraska bounced back with a nice performance and spread cover in a 56-13 win over Southern Miss, and will look to stay undefeated on the season with a win against the Bruins.

These two teams met last year in Pasadena and UCLA came out on top, winning 36-30 as a 4-point home underdog to hand Nebraska its first of just two regular-season losses. That one was a shootout, and all signs point to this being one as well.

This one could go either way, but home field could be the difference for Nebraska. Breaking in a lot of new starters on both sides of the ball, UCLA’s first road game of the season in a hostile environment will be tough to steal.

PICK: Nebraska -4.5 | Computer Prediction: 45-30 UCLA (Odds Shark computer)
