There are many constants in the world college football, and one of them is that Michigan State will cover the spread at home against Notre Dame. So it’s not a huge surprise that the Spartans open as 6-point favorites in the annual battle against the Fighting Irish in one of Week 4’s most important matchups.

Notre Dame never covers the spread at Michigan State, and Arizona State never covers at Stanford. A pair of 6-point spreads on the college football opening odds menu offer good wagering value.

Texas A&M gets a cupcake after its main course defeat at the hands of Alabama Saturday. They opened as four-TD chalk against a SMU team that barely defeated Montana State. Expect the line to climb in this one, as the Aggies have scorched SMU 160-25 in three games since 2005.
Stanford finally gets its home opener, but it’s a tough task in Arizona State. They opened as 6.5-point chalk (early line courtesy of 5Dimes) and have handled the Sun Devils at home over the years (5-1 ATS in the past decade).
And in an important SEC clash, LSU opened as 14-point home chalk against Auburn, a team that has not won here since 1999. They have lost six straight and the betting line points to more of the same in 2013.
