Jameis Winston has just one game under his college belt, but teams already know his name and his power. Sportsbooks are in the same situation, both respecting and fearing the Florida State freshman quarterback.
Jameis Winston Heisman odds expected to soar after amazing debut
On Sunday, Jameis Winston was a slightly hyped 33-1 longshot on most Heisman Trophy odds lists. By Tuesday night, he is expected to be a 10-1 bet.

The Seminole QB had a debut for the ages Monday at Pitt, completing 25 of 27 passes for 356 yards and four touchdowns in a game that the sportsbooks really needed Pitt to win. Instead, the 41-13 rout more than covered 12 points and hammered sportsbooks, some of whom had as much 90 percent of their betting handle on FSU.
“It was a huge decision for the book, biggest of weekend,” said Kevin Bradley of Bovada.
They needed Pitt “huge,” but Winston made sure that didn’t happen. Now they are fretting all the action they booked when the little-known freshman was 33-1 odds to win the Heisman Trophy. When those odds re-open this afternoon, Bradley predicts Winston will be 10-1.
The Heisman Trophy odds hype has a week to calm down - or build - as FSU has a bye week before returning home to face Nevada Sept. 14.
