The Stanford Cardinal are 4-1 straight up and 3-2 against the spread in their last five games against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. The Cardinal will get another crack at the Irish this Saturday when they visit South Bend.
Stanford vs. Notre Dame betting odds, preview, prediction
The Stanford Cardinal opened as slight home underdogs for their marquee matchup against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish this weekend (7 p.m. ET Saturday, NBC).

The line in this game is razor-thin, as the Fighting Irish are a 1-point home underdog at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Stanford’s excellent defense should give the Cardinal an edge to hand Notre Dame its first loss of the season.
Stanford’s defense has been nothing short of exceptional this season, pitching two shutouts against UC Davis and Army and then holding two high-powered Pac-12 offenses in check by allowing only 13 points to both USC and Washington.
Unfortunately for Stanford, the 13 points allowed to USC wasn’t enough for the win in a 13-10 home loss, but it did get the team a win in a 20-13 win over Washington last week. Stanford is a proven road warrior with a 19-5 SU and 17-6-1 ATS record over its last 24 road games.
OddsShark Computer Prediction: Stanford 32, Notre Dame 22
Everett Golson still has a perfect regular season record under center for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish after improving to 16-0 SU with last week’s 31-15 road win over Stanford. Golson had two interceptions in the game, but offset those with 362 yards of passing and four passing touchdowns. Notre Dame is 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS so far this season.
All trends point to the UNDER in this one. The UNDER is 4-0 in the last four games between these two teams, 7-1 in Notre Dame’s last eight games overall and 11-2 in Stanford’s last 13 games on the road.
Five of the last seven games in this series have been decided by a touchdown or less, and this week’s game between Stanford and Notre Dame should be another close one. Stanford gets the slight edge in this one due to its recent success against the Fighting Irish and the fact that it is more battle-tested this season
