49ers vs. Broncos: Betting odds, preview, prediction

Two of the NFL’s top teams meet on Sunday night when San Francisco visits the Denver Broncos.

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers are 5-2 straight up and against the spread in their last seven games against the Denver Broncos. The 49ers will take another shot at the Broncos this Sunday night on the road in Denver. The Broncos are a 6.5-point home favorite at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. San Francisco's strong defense and strong play on the road should allow the 49ers to keep this game close enough to earn a cover.

A 1-2 SU and ATS start prompted rumors that the San Francisco locker room was in turmoil and that Jim Harbaugh could be on the hot seat. But nothing quells rumors like winning, which is exactly what the 49ers have done since with a 3-0 SU and 2-1 ATS record. San Francisco shook off a slow start on Monday night to erase a 14-0 deficit and beat St. Louis, 31-17, on the road. With the win, San Francisco improved to 7-2 SU and 6-2-1 ATS over its last nine games on the road.

OddsShark Computer Prediction: San Francisco 25.8, Denver 29.6

San Francisco visits the Denver Broncos at 8:30 p.m. ET Sunday at Sports Authority Field.

Peyton Manning added three more touchdowns in last Sunday’s 31-17 road win over the New York Jets, inching to within just two touchdown passes of Brett Favre’s all-time record of 508. While the Broncos are 4-1 SU on the season, Sunday’s win marked just the second time that the team has covered the spread on the year, and that cover only came thanks to Geno Smith throwing a pick-six. Denver is 8-3 ATS in its last 11 home games against NFC West opponents.

The OVER is 3-1 in San Francisco’s last four road games against AFC West opponents and 6-0 in Denver’s last six home games against NFC West opponents. The total is set at 50.5 points at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

Denver and San Francisco are two of the top teams in the NFL, setting the stage for a great matchup this Sunday night in Denver. San Francisco is strong enough on both sides of the ball to hang with the Broncos and cover the spread as a 6.5-point road underdog.
