Current odds on the 2014 November Nine are set at:
Jorryt van Hoof (38,375,000 chips) - 57/20
Felix Stephensen (32,775,000 chips) - 4/1
Mark Newhouse (26,000,000 chips) - 5/1
Andoni Larrabe (22,550,000 chips) - 7/1
Dan Sindelar (21,200,000 chips) - 15/2
Martin Jacobson (14,900,000 chips) - 8/1
Will Pappaconstantinou (17,500,000 chips) - 10/1
William Tonking (15,050,000 chips) - 12/1
Bruno Politano (12,125,000 chips) - 16/1
Five players have stack sizes that put them in a place to contend if the deck goes their way, while the other four will have to make a move or two in the early going to have a chance at winning the world’s biggest live poker tournament.
Action on Jorrt van Hoof is currently paying 57/20, which is roughly 2.85 to 1. With only a six million chip lead it looks there’s more value on Felix Stephensen, who currently has a stack of nearly 33 million.
Stephensen is currently handicapped at 4/1, and because the young Norwegian is just getting started in poker he doesn’t have the experience that some other players in the 2014 November Nine possess. However, as we all know it only takes a favorable deck to win a tournament.
The big news surrounding the November Nine is the repeat appearance of Mark Newhouse. With a ninth-place finish in last year’s main event, Newhouse has 26 million in chips and the most playing experience in the field.
At odds of 5/1 to win the 2014 World Series of Poker (per OddsShark.com) the seasoned pro might be the bet with the most value. The story would also be epic considering his premature exit from the 2013 Main Event.
With four American players in the November Nine, one book was offering prop odds on an American player winning. Currently set at +150, choosing an American to come out on top is another great value bet.
