Cardinals vs. Broncos: Betting odds, preview, prediction

The Arizona Cardinals are unbeaten heading into Week 5 of the NFL season but they’re still underdogs as they prepare to face the Denver Broncos.

Otto Greule Jr

The Arizona Cardinals are 7-3-1 against the spread over their last 11 games as a road underdog and 3-2 straight up in their last five as a road underdog. Arizona will be in that role on Sunday visiting the Denver Broncos. Denver is a seven-point favorite at home against the Cardinals at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Arizona's stout defense should allow the Cardinals to keep this game close and cover as a strong road underdog.

Arizona is 10-2 SU and 8-3-1 ATS in its last 12 games including a 3-0 SU and 2-1 ATS start to this season. The Cardinals have been winning games due to a stout defense that is allowing only 15 points per game, an impressive feat considering the three offenses that Arizona has faced going up against San Diego, San Francisco and the New York Giants. Denver will be Arizona’s biggest challenge yet, but the team has had an extra week to prepare for Peyton Manning and company.

OddsShark Computer Prediction: Arizona 32.9, Denver 32.4

Arizona visits Denver at 4:05pm ET on Sunday at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

Peyton Manning staged a masterful game-tying drive in Denver’s last game on the road against Seattle, but the Seahawks kept the ball out of his hands in overtime by winning the toss and scoring a touchdown on the opening drive of overtime. With the loss, the Broncos fell to 2-1 SU and 0-3 ATS.

All three of Denver’s games this season have been decided by seven points or less. Denver is historically dominant coming off a bye week at home with a 13-3 SU and ATS record in those circumstances.

The UNDER is 4-1 in Arizona’s last seven games as a road underdog and 4-1 in Denver’s last five games as a road favorite. Sunday’s total is set at 48.5 at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

With both teams coming off a bye, preparation and fatigue will not be an issue. Arizona’s defense must be respected as one of the league’s best, and Denver has struggled against elite defenses in recent seasons. Arizona’s ATS success as a road underdog should continue this week at +7 in Denver.
