Bills vs. Dolphins: Betting odds, preview, and prediction for ‘Thursday Night Football’

Buffalo visits Miami as both teams are fighting to stay alive in the AFC playoff hunt.

Tim Fuller-USA TODAY Sports

The Buffalo Bills are just 2-9 SU in their last 11 road games against AFC East opponents. The Bills will be hoping to improve on that poor record Thursday night visiting the Miami Dolphins.

Buffalo is a 5.5-point road underdog, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Miami may come out on top in this one, but in what should be a close game between two division rivals, Buffalo could be a solid play at +5.5 points.

Hampered by injuries in the backfield and average play at the quarterback position, the Buffalo Bills haven’t been doing much on offense this season. As a result, the Bills are just 3-4 SU and 2-5 ATS over their last seven games since getting off to a hot start of 2-0 SU and ATS.

Still, the defense has played very well, allowing 20.2 points per game and ranking in the top 10 in the NFL in both passing and rushing defense. Buffalo is 3-1 SU and ATS in its last four games as a road underdog.

OddsShark Computer Prediction: Buffalo 20.8, Miami 25.6

Miami hosts Buffalo at Sun Life Stadium Thursday night at 8:25 p.m. ET.

The Dolphins had a 3-0 SU and ATS winning streak snapped in a 20-16 loss to the red-hot Detroit Lions last week, but that shouldn’t take anything away from how Miami has been playing of late. The Dolphins are 4-2 SU and ATS over their last six games with both of those losses coming by a combined seven points.

Ryan Tannehill has been playing well under center and the defense ranks fifth in the NFL allowing 19 points per game. Miami is 0-3 SU and ATS in its last three games against Buffalo.

The UNDER is 7-2 over the last nine meetings between these two teams. Thursday night’s total is set at 42 points at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

With two division rivals with great defenses clashing hursday night, points should be hard to come by. Tannehill and home field advantage may give Miami the moneyline edge, but as a 5.5-point underdog Buffalo should be able to keep this game close and earn a cover for its backers.
